ゲームそのもの以外にもゲームをよくするものがある。セッションでもてなすことに絡んだ“ダンジョンの盛りつけ”もそのひとつだ。以下の記事でThe Geeky Hostess(またの名をタラ・テオハリス)からそれらへの助言や示唆を得ようではないか。
君がいつものD&Dセッションにお菓子を持っていく番で、毎度毎度のドリトスやM&M'sに飽きているとする。もしセッションが始まる前に4時間程度の時間があれば、私は君を助けることができる。おいしい上にテーマもあるゼラチナス・キャーブを持っていこう！
緑のJELL-O以外にどんなものが必要かって？ それはD&Dの神々の雫、マウンテンデュー。カフェイン入りの微炭酸？ 失敗するはずがない！
君は6オンス入りライム味のGELL-Oを1パック(あるいは3オンス入り2パック)マウンテンデュー2カップ、そしてゼラチナス・キューブに浮かべたいものをいくつか準備するだけでいい。
作り方
- JELL-Oのパックと沸騰したお湯2カップを深く四角い耐熱皿で混ぜ合わせる。完全に混ざるまで2分ほどかき混ぜること。
- 2カップの冷えたマウンテンデューを入れてさらにかき混ぜる。炭酸が泡立ちすぎないようにゆっくりと注意深く注ぎ、きちんと計量すること！
- 皿にふたをして、冷蔵庫に入れる。2時間冷やす。
- もしJELL-Oの中に何かを入れたいのなら、それらが清潔で衛生的なことを確認してから行なうこと。プラスチックのミニチュア、プラスチックの金貨、あるいは小さなキャンディなどがよいだろう。
- 皿のふたを慎重に外し(できればそれを動かさないようにして)、それらのものを中に入れる。
- もう2時間ほどかけて固まるまで冷やす。
- 鋭く刃がギザギザしていないナイフでJELL-Oを立方体に切り分ける。めしあがれ！

このキューブをゲームで使いたい？ それならこういう考えがある！
- ラミネート加工されたゲーム・マットを持っている？ プレイヤーが彼らに遭遇したとき、マットの上にキューブを抜き落とすのだ。キューブを切り分けるときの大きさはボーナスで決定される！
- キューブの中に財宝を埋め込んでどのプレイヤーが勇敢、あるいは間抜けにもそれを手に入れようと挑戦するか観察しよう！
- 前回のセッションで誰かがゼラチナス・キューブに取り込まれた？ 次のセッションが始まる前に彼らのミニチュアをこっそりJELL-Oの中に入れておこう。
